Fibromyalgia, Syndrome X, and Antioxidants

By Dr. Steven Yen

Syndrome X is known as the approach to life illness or metabolic syndrome. Patients with this disorder are overweight, have high cholesterol (i.e. LDLs) levels, and high blood pressure. They could also have insulin resistance or even be diabetic. This syndrome leads to heart disease, stroke, type II diabetes, and even certain types of cancer. The majority of the major sicknesses are a result of bad behaviours or ways of living, and not our genes. Who our elders are is critical, but not as much as diet and environment.

Patients with fibromyalgia are more likely to have syndrome X. When you consider fibromyalgia treatment, a world and overall approach is required. Doctors of Chiropractic can help to keep your spine discomfort to a minimum in order that you can exercise and get strong again. While these aspects of medicare are urgent, you want to also consider good nourishment when taking on the problem of fibromyalgia symptoms. There are a few nutritional inadequacies which have been noted in this illness.

Research has proven that when the blood is measured in both fibromylagia and syndrome X patients, there are lower levels of anti-oxidating compounds in comparison to those without these sicknesses. Patients who had the greatest amounts of agony also had the lowest levels of anti-oxidating agents. Antioxidant blood levels are affected by how much stress you are under, and also your consumption of correct nutriments.

Many of us do not have enormous daily intakes of fruits of plants. Kale, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and bell peppers, need to replace soda and chips. Five daily servings at a minimum are needed. The western diet has far too much fat, particularly saturated trans fat, too much protein, too little fiber and veg, and too many calories overall. A plant-based diet (e.g. Vegan) has been shown in one study to reduce fibromyalgia symptoms. You may not have to go as far as vegan or vegetarian, but eating meat at each meal is the other extraordinary.

Supplementation of a well-balanced diet with vitamins C and E are recommended for most patients, to ensure adequate levels of anti oxidants. Maintaining a good body weight with also lower your oxidative stress and make you need less antioxidants to counter the exaggerated weight. Taking a holistic and holistic approach by looking at spine structure, exercise and stretching, and diet will give you the best tools for fighting fibromyalgia with no drugs and their unfavourable side effects.
