Treat Your Heel Pain With Bromelain

By Sarah Neil

Enzymes are natural remedies for pain. Bromelain is a natural enzyme that is derived from pineapples. It is one of my favorite natural anti-inflammatory remedies. You can take one pill of a high quality brand and it could treat all your aches and pains.

Enzymes are made by your body to digest your food and to do cellular repair in your body. If you do not have enough enzymes in your body leftover after you digest all your food, your body can become enzyme deficient. That means you do not have enough enzymes to clean up injuries and remove inflammation.

When you eat a lot of food that is hard to digest, such as animal protein, you can easily use up all the enzymes your body makes. Your body needs those enzymes to heal the daily inflammation that it produces. If you cannot heal, you can get chronic inflammation. An easy solution is to take bromelain tablets.

Canned pineapple is boiled before it is canned. The enzymes in the pineapple are destroyed. This is not a source of bromelain.

Look for "active units" when buying bromelain. Enzymes are measured by active units, not milligrams. You have to read the label to be sure how many active unites you are getting. Milligrams mean nothing when buying enzymes. You are looking for GDU units.

GDU is a common measurement of bromelain. The milligrams mean absolutely nothing in deciding which product is best. You will need to look for active units.

If you take bromelain on an empty stomach, the active enzymes can enter your bloodstream and relieve pain and inflammation. If you take it with food, the enzyme will be used to help digest your food. It will still help your pain and inflammation, but not as much.

Please do not overdose on bromelain. Usually one tablet or capsule of the good brand is enough to treat the problem. I am very picky about quality.
