By Sarah Neuschwanstein

Knee pain can have many causes. Your knee must support your whole body weight. Inflammation is one of the most common causes of knee pain. Injuries such as falling are often common.

You get inflammation from accidents as well as nutrient deficiencies. Once you have an accident and fall on your knee or hit your knee on something, your body makes inflammation to heal it.

Inflammation is when your body is trying to heal itself. The problem starts when you cannot heal for some reason. If your body cannot completely heal, you can have chronic inflammation, which can cause scar tissue and long term pain.

Acupuncture can be effective to treat knee pain. Acupuncture works by opening up circulation and blood flow in the treated area. If you have pain, you have a blockage. That is a Chinese medicine theory. If you have no blockage, you have no pain.

When you get acupuncture for knee pain, there are specific points around the knee that constitute a prescription for knee pain. The points are around the knee and serve the purpose of opening up circulation and improving blood flow, so the body can heal itself.

Glucosamine sulfate can be an effective remedy for knee pain. It works by providing the raw material your body needs to heel connective tissue. Connective tissue in your body is tissue such as all joints. You have connective tissue in other areas, but the joints are the most common area of concern for most people.

When you try glucosamine, be sure to use the sulfate type. There are two kinds of glucosamine, sulfate and HCL. The sulfate type is better absorbed. Be aware though, it is derived from shellfish or shrimp.

There are many herbs to relieve pain and inflammation. Boswellin has been used for thousands of years to treat pain and other diseases. You can take it internally and put it on your skin in cream form.

Bromelain is an enzyme that is derived from pineapples. It is a safe, natural anti inflammatory. You should take it on an empty stomach.
